We often see high-performance ceramic grinding wheels or CBN grinding wheels being used in systems where the coolant looks more like grey sludge. When a customer asks why their wheel is "loading up" or why they are getting scratches on a fine finish, the first thing we look at isn't the wheel—it's the filtration.

Coolant filter paper rolls are essentially the kidneys of the grinding process. As the coolant flushes away heat and metal swarf, the paper traps those microscopic particles. If they aren't filtered out, they recirculate through the pump and get sprayed back into the "nip" of the grind. This causes "peck marks" and acts like an unwanted abrasive on your machine’s expensive internal slides. We supply various micron-rated papers because the "why" is about protection: protecting the surface finish of the part, protecting the life of the grinding wheel, and protecting the machine itself from premature wear.
